CapSort Privacy Policy

1. The short version

Your screenshots never leave your phone unless you choose to share them. CapSort has no accounts, no server, no ads and no analytics. The only thing it sends anywhere is a purchase check, so it knows whether you've bought the unlock.

CapSort is a screenshot-sorting app published by TheForklift.dev LLC ("we," "us"). It's built by a solo developer who doesn't want your data. This policy is short because the app does very little with your information, and that's on purpose.

2. What CapSort accesses

Your screenshots. CapSort asks for access to your Photos library. iOS only offers that access for the whole library, but CapSort reads only your Screenshots collection and ignores the rest of your photos.

Adding to Photos. When you sort a screenshot, CapSort adds it to an album you named. Crops and posters you make are saved as new photos in that album. Your original screenshot is never changed.

Deleting from Photos. CapSort only deletes a screenshot you put in its trash, and only after you confirm in Apple's own delete dialog. Deleted photos go to Photos' Recently Deleted album, as usual.

3. What stays on your phone

All of CapSort's work happens on your iPhone:

  • Sorting, cropping, posters and PDF export
  • Finding similar screenshots, which uses Apple's on-device image analysis
  • Removing location, time and device details from files you export

CapSort also keeps a few things in its own storage on your phone: your albums' names, which screenshots you've sorted, your streaks and stats, your settings, and your free-tier counts (sorts this week, and whether you've used your free PDF). None of it is sent anywhere.

4. What goes over the internet

Only two things, and neither one includes your screenshots:

  • The purchase check. CapSort asks RevenueCat whether you've bought the unlock. See Purchases below.
  • Maps. If a screenshot has a location saved in it and you open its details, the map is drawn with Apple Maps, which loads map images for that area from Apple. The screenshot itself isn't sent.

5. When you share or export

A screenshot or PDF leaves your phone only when you tap share and pick where it goes, like Messages, Mail, Files or AirDrop. From then on, the app you picked handles it under its own privacy policy.

Every file CapSort offers to share has the location, capture time and device details stored inside it removed first, and CapSort checks the file to make sure they're gone. PDFs never contain location or device details. A setting in the app decides whether copies saved to your albums are cleaned the same way.

6. Purchases

RevenueCat

CapSort is free to use, with a one-time purchase that unlocks unlimited sorting, PDF export, more albums and no watermark. There's no subscription. The purchase is made through Apple, and CapSort never sees your payment details.

CapSort uses RevenueCat to confirm what you've bought. RevenueCat receives a random identifier that CapSort creates, your purchase record from Apple, and basic technical details that come with any internet request, such as your app version, iOS version and IP address. The identifier isn't linked to your name, email or Apple ID, and it isn't used for advertising or tracking. See RevenueCat's privacy policy for how they handle that data.

7. What CapSort never does

  • No account or sign-in
  • No cloud storage or server of our own
  • No advertising, and no ad tracking or advertising identifier (IDFA)
  • No analytics collecting how you use the app
  • No selling or sharing of your data with anyone

8. Deleting your data

There's no account to delete. CapSort doesn't have accounts, so nothing about you is stored on a server we run.

Everything CapSort stores lives on your phone. To erase it, delete CapSort from your iPhone. That removes your sort history, streaks, stats and settings. Albums and photos CapSort saved to your Photos library stay there until you delete them in Photos.

RevenueCat keeps your purchase record under the random identifier described above. To have that record removed, email chris@theforklift.dev with the subject "CapSort data deletion" and we'll take care of it within 30 days. Your purchase itself stays with your Apple ID, and you can restore it at any time from Settings in CapSort.

9. Children's privacy

CapSort isn't directed at children, and it doesn't knowingly collect information from anyone.

10. Changes to this policy

If what CapSort collects ever changes, for example if an analytics tool is added, this page will be updated first and the date at the top will change.
