Privacy Policy

1. Overview

PegPerfect is a cribbage app published by TheForklift.dev LLC ("we," "us"). It's built offline-first: every hand, drill, and streak is saved to your device the moment it happens, and syncs to the cloud only when you're signed in and online. This policy explains what PegPerfect collects, why, who it's shared with, and the choices you have. It covers PegPerfect across iOS and Android, including Classic matches, Kim's Kribbage and other practice drills, PegPerfect Streak, the PegPerfect Challenge (Daily Challenge), and Sink Hole.

2. Data we collect

Account & authentication

Every install gets a random, anonymous account the moment you open the app, so your stats and history aren't lost to a crash or reinstall as long as you stay signed in. If you choose to sign in with Google or with Sign in with Apple, that sign-in is linked onto the same anonymous account rather than starting a new one, and we collect the email address and name your Google or Apple account provides. You can also keep playing as a guest indefinitely, in which case you're identified only by a random, pseudonymous ID with no personal information attached.

Gameplay & stats

When you're signed in and online, we store the following in our cloud database, linked to your account ID:

Daily Challenge leaderboard

If you sign in with a real account (not just a guest), you can submit a nickname you choose, along with your score, accuracy, and time, to the daily leaderboard. This is visible to other signed-in players. Whoever finishes #1 each day is kept permanently as part of our public "Hall of Fame" record, even if you later delete your account, everyone else's daily entry is temporary (see §5).

Sink Hole

When you finish a Sink Hole attempt, we save a short summary to your account: the mode, whether you won, and how far you got. That summary is linked to your account ID, and deleting your account removes it.

We also save an anonymous record of the attempt itself, win or lose: the deal, each card played, and how long each decision took. It has no account ID, name, or email in it, so it can't be traced back to you. We use these records to study how people play and to train and tune our computer opponents, and they are not shared outside the company. Because they aren't tied to you, they aren't removed when you delete your account.

Hand-difficulty data

We track, in aggregate, how often players get a specific hand-and-cut combination right or wrong, and how long it takes to answer. This is pooled across everyone who plays and is never tied back to your account. We use it to calibrate puzzle difficulty and pick featured practice hands.

Game-tempo data

We also keep app-wide totals of how long games take and which PegPerfect Turbo speeds people use. These are running totals with no account ID in them, so they can't be traced back to you. We use them to tune game pacing.

Reports

If you report another player's leaderboard nickname, we store your account ID, the reported account ID, and the day, so we can review it. Nobody else can read these.

Crash & diagnostic data

Firebase Crashlytics automatically collects crash logs and basic device information (device model, OS version) so we can find and fix bugs.

Usage events

Firebase Analytics logs lightweight, pseudonymous events, like which mode you opened or whether you finished a drill, tied to your account ID but never your name or email.

On-device data

Your in-progress game, local stats cache, and settings are stored on your device so PegPerfect works fully offline. This is cleared when you uninstall the app and is never sent to us unless you're signed in and online. Deleting your account also clears your history, records, and achievements from the device (see §5).

3. How we use it

• Run the game: sync your progress, stats, and history across devices.
• Calibrate difficulty: aggregated hand-accuracy data and bot head-to-head records shape puzzle difficulty and bot balance. We periodically export aggregated stats internally to check things like whether a bot difficulty is too easy or too hard, these exports are for our own game-balance decisions, not shared outside the company.
• Run the leaderboard: post your Daily Challenge result and moderate reported nicknames.
• Manage your purchase: PegPerfect Pro entitlement status is synced via RevenueCat.
• Fix bugs and understand usage: crash reports and aggregate, pseudonymous event data.

We do not sell your data, and we do not share your gameplay with other players beyond what you choose to put on the leaderboard.

4. Third-party services

Handles authentication, stores your gameplay data (Cloud Firestore), and provides analytics and crash reporting. Subject to Google's Privacy Policy.

Manages your PegPerfect Pro purchase and links your account ID to your entitlement status. Subject to RevenueCat's Privacy Policy.

Used only to authenticate you. We don't request access to your contacts, calendar, or location through these providers.

5. Data retention & deletion

We keep career stats, streaks, head-to-head bot records, and hand-difficulty data for as long as your account exists, since your stats dashboard depends on them. Individual match logs (the play-by-play record of a single game) are pruned from our live database after about 60 days; we keep an internal backup before anything is pruned. Daily leaderboard entries are pruned after about 30 days, except each day's #1 finisher, which we keep permanently as a historical record (nickname and score only). On-device data is cleared when you uninstall the app.

Deleting your account

You can delete your account at any time, right in the app: open Settings, then Account, then Delete account. You'll sign in with Apple or Google once more to confirm it's you, and then it happens immediately. You don't need to email anyone. If you can't open the app, you can also ask us by email. Deleting your account:

• Permanently deletes from our servers your profile, career stats, match history, streaks, head-to-head bot records, Daily Challenge results, Sink Hole run summaries, daily leaderboard entries, and your login.
• Clears from your device your history, records, achievements, leaderboard nickname, and saved game. Your settings and free-trial status stay.
• Revokes PegPerfect's access to your Sign in with Apple and Google sign-in.
• Doesn't remove a PegPerfect Pro purchase. Pro is a one-time purchase on your Apple ID or Google account, so it stays with that account and you can restore it later. There is no subscription to cancel.

What stays is data that doesn't identify you: a daily win you're credited with stays in the Hall of Fame record, and your play remains part of the app-wide hand-difficulty and game-tempo totals and the anonymous Sink Hole records, none of which ever had your account ID in them. A nickname report you filed stays for moderation, and RevenueCat keeps a purchase record, both under your old account ID, which no longer points to anyone. Email us and we'll remove the RevenueCat record too. Crash reports and usage events expire on Firebase's normal schedule.

6. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access a copy of your data, correct it, request deletion, export your history, or object to certain processing. To exercise any of these, email privacy@theforklift.dev.

PegPerfect's infrastructure runs on Google Cloud / Firebase, which may process data in the United States. By using PegPerfect, you consent to your data being processed there.

7. Children's privacy

PegPerfect is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us personal information, contact us at privacy@theforklift.dev and we'll delete it.

8. Security

• Data in transit is encrypted with TLS 1.2+.
• Data at rest in Firestore is encrypted using Google-managed encryption.
• Passwords are hashed by Firebase Authentication; we never see or store them in plain text.
• No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to protect your data using industry-standard practices.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as PegPerfect adds features. Material changes will be reflected here with an updated date, and significant changes will be announced in-app.
